Movies based on Books

Often in school you will be asked to read books like no other than; To Kill a Mockingbird, but did you know that there is a movie based on that book? Although not recommended by teachers, it is often good to see what the film is like before you start reading the book (or after you have read the book) This way you can compare the two! Here you will find a list of seven books that were turned into movies. 

  1. To Kill A Mockingbird
English teachers love this book! Published in 1960 by an American author Harper Lee this book became extremely popular with over 40 million copies sold worldwide. Pretty good changes of you crossing paths with it in English Class.

  1. Pride and Prejudice
This romantic novel was turned into a film in 2005. Pride and Prejudice was anonymously published in 1813 by Jane Austen only a couple years before she passed away. This novel is a staple in English class lists.

  1. The Book Thief
The Book Theif by Markus Zusak is based on 1939 Nazi Germany.

  1. The Life of Pi
Life of Pi was an adventure-drama film directed by Ang Lee in 2012. The Movie is based on the novel The Life of Pi by Yann Martel (2001). For those asking if Life of Pi is a movie based on a true story, the answer is no it is fictional!

  1. The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby, a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, was turned into a film in 2013. 
Starting with none other than Leonardo DiCaprio, it is definitely a film worth watching!

This list would not be complete without the mention of Romeo and Juliet! No matter where you are, your English teacher will likely have you read this play!
