Boarding Schools in Austria

Are you considering sending your child to a boarding school in Austria? Then this article is for you! Here is a list of boarding schools available in Austria!

As choosing a boarding school for your child is an important decision for the family here are a few things you need to consider:
  1. The location - It is important to understands the logistics of how your child will get to and from school during holidays! (Where is the closes airport?, Where is the train station? Are there any direct flights home?)
  2. The Student Community - How does your child feel about the school community? We often recommend asking for a trial night/week at the school. One needs to keep in mind that this will be your child's "home away from home". Students often get home sick, it is important to make sure your child feels comfortable in the school community.
  3. The Boarding Staff - If you have a possible to meet some of the boarding staff, take it! You want to know what your child will be up to outside of the school hours. It is always good to know what is ratio of students to boarding staff is. If you ever go on a school tour it is important to ask Boarding Staff questions like: How often is the laundry done? Who is responsible for washing the bedding? How often are the room cleaned? Where will the medicine be stored? What types of activities are offered during the weekend? Will the school provide food over the weekend?
  4. The Diversity - What is the ratio of Boys to Girls? How many nationalities are present in the boarding house? Where are the majority of the students from? What is the ratio of Boarding to Day students? At what capacity is the boarding house currently?
  5. The Costs - Make sure you compare the costs of the school. It is important to ask what is included in the school fees. Are there any one-time fees? What are the extra payments?
